HWM Sports Cars is delighted to introduce the Caterham Seven Miami Edition, an exclusive creation combining British craftsmanship, distinctive Miami colours and the unmistakable driving character of the Seven. With just twelve examples built for the Miami Grand Prix Drivers’ Parade, it represents a fascinating chapter in Caterham’s history.
Its 2.0-litre Ford Duratec four-cylinder engine produces 210bhp, propelling the lightweight 560kg sports car from 0–60mph in just 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 136mph. Low weight, responsive handling and an intimate connection with the road deliver the engaging driving experience for which Caterham is renowned.
The Miami Edition was developed to carry Formula 1 drivers during the Grand Prix weekend, with eleven cars allocated to the eleven teams and a twelfth prepared as a reserve. Finished in Miami-inspired colours rather than individual team liveries, these distinctive Sevens brought a fresh personality to Caterham’s timeless design.
Each example was hand-built at Caterham’s Dartford factory. To meet the demanding production schedule, two builders were assigned to each car, with both names recorded on its individual build plaque. All twelve cars were then air-freighted to Florida, supported by a dedicated team of Caterham specialists.
The project attracted considerable attention in Miami, with David Coulthard driving one of the cars along Ocean Drive for promotional filming. Another example was displayed in the F1 FanZone, where more than a thousand visitors took the opportunity to be photographed behind the wheel.
Forecast electrical storms ultimately forced changes to the race-day schedule, resulting in the cancellation of the Drivers’ Parade. Although the cars never made their intended parade appearance, the ambition, craftsmanship and extraordinary effort behind their creation remain central to their story.
